It is an interesting market that will stretch you from pillar to post if you don’t know the basics. The market have been affected by a lot of ponzi schemes that to a lot of people say network marketing is a scam. But that wouldn’t stop them from signing up with many scams because only a hand full truly understand what network marketing is. Are there true Nigerian success in the Nigerian MLM industry? Yes they are and they are amazing when you meet them. The market attracts almost 2-3 new companies yearly who wants to prove they are the best in changing people’s lives and helping them become financially free.

WHAT THE MARKET WANTS TO KNOW
If the network marketing company is in the wellness industry of Network Marketing, Nigerians wants to know if the product has NAFDAC number. NAFDAC is an acronym for National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. This body under the ministry of health is responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, advertisement, distribution, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals and packaged water in Nigeria. Having a number tag on your products shows authenticity and quality. NAFDAC is the FDA of Nigeria.
Nigerians wants to know the means of payment from the company. They actually love it if you can pay them via their bank accounts irrespective of the bank. Some companies who used a certain Nigerian bank account had to start making sure that people can be paid with any bank account because most Nigerians will not want the stress of changing their bank once the company disapprove their bank accounts.
NIGERIA MARKET CHALLENGE
PONZI SCHEMES is a big challenge. Due to the economy not being stable, people create a means to make quick money and show off. Ponzi schemes then enter the market with promises of no buying or selling of products and that they will be rich in 3-6 months. Presence of lots of this ponzi schemes led to some many people see the industry as a scam but with eduction and consistent trainings, many still key into network marketing industry.
Nigerians wants to see you start succeeding with the business before they can join you. They believe joining you in that business means you want to use them to be successful. So you need to consistently motivate and train them before they believe it is workable. And if you have a product that can bring a quick result to any health problem, they will see it as magic and carry the story round the country for you.
Online transactions is a challenge. The presence of many internet scammers have made many Nigerians scared of an online transaction. They prefer to place order for their product online without payment, while they pay on delivery to their doorstep. Or they will demand to know your office and pay cash to pick their products.
YOU SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THIS
Nigerians see your product price to be too expensive. No matter the price you tag it. Even though the unstable economy is also a big reason, Nigerians wants you to give them the product for free.
As a company, you should have incentives like Laptop, Smart Phones and most importantly car incentives in your package. This is when you want to grow in Nigerian market. And it should be easy to achieve. Or you can have cash prices as incentives too. In that case the winner can use to buy a car of choice if they want to.
HOW TO BE LOVED BY NIGERIANS
And a few cultural tips and clues to be successful in the Nigerian Network Marketing:
Dress like them. The traditional way of dressing by the different tribes will make you to be loved and seen as one of them.
Know the 3 major tribes (this is not to say you shouldn’t know others), eat their food with them like Mark Zuckerberg did, demand to be given a traditional name from the different tribes.
If you can learn to speak like them, very good. It is easier to learn the Pidgin English (also called broken english) than learning their tribal languages. But make an effort to, they will make you their friend for life which is easiest way to sell.
