Ms. Limpho Mda is a dynamic leader of network marketing from South Africa, mother of two wonderful children and simply an extraordinary person. In our interview she talks about her career in the Corporate Environment, successes in network marketing, many inspiring things and a new dynamic health-promoting project in which she is now fully engaged.
YOU HAD WORKED IN THE CORPORATE ENVIRONMENT FOR 14 YEARS BEFORE YOU BECAME A NETWORK MARKETER. WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS DECISION? IT MUST BE DIFFICULT TO GIVE UP SOMETHING YOU’VE BEEN USED TO FOR SUCH A LONG TIME.
I agree it was tough to finally get to that this decision of leaving my comfortable job in the Corporate Environment. Before I left, I had been toying with the idea for quite some time. The fear of the unknown and the anxiety that comes with it. When I finally made that decision, I knew it was the right thing to do and I left. I was at a point where I felt that I had reached a ceiling in terms of growth and exposure. I was yearning for more and I truly believed that life had more to offer beyond my 9 to 5 job. I cannot take away the fact that the corporate environment shaped me and contributed to how I conduct by business today. I’m also happy to say in the 3 years that I’ve been doing Network Marketing full time, I’ve grown so much as a person, I’ve experienced so much, I traveled so much internationally and I’ve made more money than the salary that I was earning in my comfortable job. Is it always easy? No, but the ups and downs are definitely worth it.
WHAT SHAPED YOU EXACTLY IN LIFE? WHAT SHAPED YOU AS AN ENTREPRENEUR AND AS A HUMAN BEING? I MEAN MAYBE SOME PEOPLE OR EVENTS FROM YOUR PAST?
First and foremost my relationship with God shaped me. In Him I have my being. Secondly my WHY and genuine caring for the people shaped me. And this is where my corporate exposure benefited me as well. I worked for one of the biggest retailers in my country and the culture resonated with me so much hence it was so difficult to leave. In business, before a product or a service that one provides, people are our biggest asset. You help people get what they want, and you will get what you want. It’s that simple.
YOU ARE THE MOTHER OF TWO BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN. HOW DOES BEING A MOM HELP BEING A NETWORK MARKETER? HOW DOES AFFECT IT IN GENERAL?
Being a full time network marketer has helped me so much when it comes to attaining work life balance. Yes, I take what I do seriously and I treat it as a job and not a hobby however I love the flexibility that comes with it. It has afforded me an opportunity to spend more time with my kids, be more present and more involved.

It’s been nothing short of amazing pioneering this phenomenal project and getting involved right at the beginning and being part of a global solution. We have an App that is operating already, we are globally accessible and because it’s a digital product, it’s also eco friendly. This product in my humble view is for everyone because it’s very affordable and it is subscription based which makes it very safe as users have full control.
HOW DO YOU RECRUIT PEOPLE? IS THERE SOMETHING THAT DISTINGUISHES YOU?
I believe in building relationships, getting to know people, understanding what their needs are and being real and relatable. I build relationships, turn strangers into friends and friends into Business Partners. I believe that this is what distinguishes me.
WHAT WOULD YOU CALL ‘MY BIGGEST SUCCESS’?
My biggest success is my children. Raising 2 phenomenal children and being able to meet their needs. My kids are my everything. My WHY. They keep me going… Switching careers from Human Resources Practitioner to a full time Network Marketer” with such ease after 14 full years has also been a great achievement for me, as daunting as it was.
I WONDER HOW ARE YOU DOING IN THESE TROUBLED TIMES. HOW CORONAVIRUS HAS AFFECTED YOUR BUSINESS? OR THE WAY YOU DO YOUR BUSINESS.
We are truly coping under the circumstances but we cannot take lightly the impact that Coronavirus has had on all of us. Be it directly or indirectly, emotionally or economically. There had to be mind shift to the new normal. As a network marketer, I also believe in personal contact with those people that are close by. Setting up one on one meeting and attending events. But all this has had to change as we do our business purely online. Online platform such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Zoom, Click to mention a few, have always enabled us to connect with people and build sustainable business but now we have had to rely on them even more because of social distancing and safety measures that we all have to adhere to. I’m learning new ways of enhancing my business and because I’m in digital space with our product offering, it’s easily scalable so we are continuing with business as normal as possible.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THE CURRENT ECONOMIC SITUATION IN SOUTH AFRICA, AND HOW THE MLM BUSINESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD.
It goes without saying that Coronavirus has had a huge impact on our economy at large. Businesses have had to shut their doors which resulted in some job losses, some have had to retrench and lay off a certain number of employees which has resulted in an increase in unemployment and further regression to our economy at large. On the brighter side, our industry has really come in very handy and has given many people an opportunity to get involved and be able to provide and sustain their families. MLM companies with great infrastructure have seen a huge increase in sales and I can safely say the industry has experienced one of the greatest booms of all times. As difficult as it has been for other sectors, MLM has experienced exponential growth and given many people financial freedom and leverage during these difficult times.
WHAT COMPETENCIES DO YOU THINK ARE IMPORTANT IN NETWORK MARKETING?
One has got to have passion to help people and be willing to serve. Connecting and building people are the best skills that anyone in the Industry can harness and leverage on. When you build people, they build the business for you. Personal Development is also key and actually the utmost important.
WHAT PEOPLE DO YOU THINK ARE THE MOST INSPIRING IN YOUR LIFE?
My mom is my greatest inspiration. High 5 to that woman who has raised 4 phenomenal children on her own and also contributed immensely to the community by her selflessness. My mother always puts other people’s needs before her needs. And this is one of the greatest skills that are key in MLM as well. Give people what they want, you will get what you want.
IF YOU CAN CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE MLM INDUSTRY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I so wish we networkers could treat this industry with the utmost respect it deserves and be professional and ethical in our dealings with people. I also wish we could complement each other and learn to co-exist regardless of whether we are in the same company or not. Network Marketing is a profession and not a hobby.
LIMPHO, DO YOU HAVE A LIFE MOTTO?
Be kind and courageous. Be honest and transparent. Always look on the brighter side and never give up.
YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE? THE NEAREST AND THE DISTANT ONE.
To live a 100 percent debt free life and help many more people realize the same. Travel more and retire fully at 55 (although it’s not easy to retire in our industry. Very addictive. In a good way 😉
THANK YOU MS. LIMPHO MDA FOR THIS INTERVIEW. IT HAS BEEN A PLEASURE.
