A long time ago, I heard the painful phrase “business never overtakes a leader. ” It was painful that I was building a business in the MLM industry myself at the time, and although it was growing great up to a point, there were times when it wasn’t so great: the group “stood still”, did not grow, and sometimes even shrined. STEVE, I THINK THAT YOU WILL AGREE WITH ME IF I SAY THAT SPORT IS BASED ON ONE THING: COMPETITION. FOLLOWING THAT LOGIC, WE CAN SAY THAT WORK IS BASED ON EFFECTIVENESS, FRIENDSHIP ON TRUST AND ADVERTISING ON HAPPINESS, FOR INSTANCE. HOW ABOUT NETWORK MARKETING? WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT NETWORK MARKETING IS BASED ON?

I would say that sport is based very much on the same thing as work and network marketing and at its base is Discipline, example if we are not disciplined, we will not go training, we will not get out of bed to go to our job and we will not learn the skills needed to become successful in network marketing. Sport is a competition however again so are the other two, not in that way that most see it though most see the competition as being against someone when the true competition in anything ourselves we compete with ourselves to become 1 percent better every day. 

If you’re not your best in sport you lose, if you’re not your best at work you get fired and in Network marketing if you’re not your best you don’t get paid. I would say the one thing that network marketing is based on is Relationship building.

I KNOW THAT IN THE MEANTIME, YOU SUFFERED A SERIOUS INJURY. WILL YOU SHARE THIS STORY WITH OUR READERS? HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO GET BACK IN SHAPE?

Yes, as I shared earlier, I had a virus attack my nervous system paralysing my right arm, which took me around 4 years to getting the feeling back, your readers may have noticed through my answers that I have a competitive streak in me and when someone says it cannot be done, I have this crazy voice inside that says I am going to prove you wrong.

My English teacher at school once said to me Mr Ottewell you will never account to anything). Not even sure if they can say that nowadays Lol, showing my age), because I was always staring and the window and being disruptive. At twelve years old I took that as a challenge so all our naysayers we better thank them to as they are the fuel to the fire. I digress, I do that a lot. I would say mindset is key to everything, I respected what the Dr’s said but who said they are right. If we want an extension built, we get three quotes so why take one person’s opinion. I did what I knew, and I taped my ram to machine in the gym and used the weight to move the arm as I am always an advocate of use it or lose it, so if I kept it moving eventually, I would get it to work and it did just that and now in 2020 I have full feeling, mobility in the arm and am back training 4 days a week.

AND WHY DO YOU WHAT YOU DO? WHAT IS YOUR DRIVE IN MLM, YOUR PERSONAL „WHY”? THE MONEY, THE FREEDOM, THE THRILL? SOMETHING ELSE?

My personal WHY is my immediate family and my extended family because of the nature of our up bringing I feel now every blessed that I can impact the lives of so many so my WHY is to Build a wall of security around those I love give them the freedom to live life on their terms and change our legacy as the generation that changed everything in our families tree.

My next drive as always been to serve and impact peoples live firstly it was physically through body composition, basically helping the achieve their goals, however as a personal trainer there were never enough hours in the day to help enough people and the more people I helped the less time I got to spend with my family, and now with network marketing I can coach people how to do what I did and go to work on themselves bring everything they have ever wanted all under one roof and to achieve all what the network marketing industry has to offer.

Then thirdly I must admit there is a thrill factor as when you see one life changed and then another you do start to wonder how big this can go and how many lives you can change.

AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN WITH YOUR CURRENT COMPANY? HOW IS THE GROWTH IN YOUR ORGANISATION?

I have been with my current company for around a year now as we have been pioneers in pre pre launching the company into the UK and 14 others European markets on the same day June 8th, 2020. That comes with good and bad Good your first in Line Bad your first in line. So growth brings growing pains just like building the body I built.

Our growth has been what we predicted I am not allowed to share exact sales and numbers, but just to say some companies have not achieved what we as a team have done so far this year.

I believe and one of the reasons for joining the company is we are positioned in front of the next BIG Mega Trend. Every decade or so along comes a technology that changes everything, In the 90’s it was Aloe Vera which is a well-respected product even today, however I believe this mega trend will far surpass even that, as the Ketone, Keto, Ketosis Mega trend is just gathering momentum by the day and people are now starting to wake up to that. I share we are like Steve Jobs when he stepped outside of the Garage with Apple all those years ago and given what then happened and knowing now with hindsight would not you want to be a part of that. I see us as The Apple of the Ketone World.

My plans are to help thousands of people realise their dreams and take them out of their head and turn them into reality. Jim Rohn said help enough people get what they want in life and you will get what you want. That sounds good to me.

Personally, we are in talks to Build our Dream Villa in Spain, and do what network marketing allows us to do and that is have time freedom and work from anywhere that we wish to.

STEVE, YOUR STORY IS THE STORY OF A MAN WHO OVERCAME MANY ADVERSITIES BEFORE ACHIEVING WHAT HE ACHIEVED. LET’S START FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. IF YOU DON’T MIND, PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND.

Hi Peter, it is an absolute pleasure to speak with you and thank you for the interview invite. Yes, Peter sure, I was raised by my Single Mum along with 3 sisters we had our struggle and challenges making ends meet but even at an early age I was a dreamer. Many times, I would be told stop living in cuckoo land a Northern expression for a land that did not exist.

But nevertheless, Dream I did and continued to do. I left School with zero qualifications because I never paid attention as I had what I call a chip on my shoulder about my dad leaving, although for everyone it was the best thing, he could have done. I was not afraid of hard work as that was all i knew however with zero qualifications, I had to take any job going, which was usually the jobs others would not do. I was still dreaming and achieving some of those dreams. One was to get a motorbike and pass my test which I achieved. I gave 100% to every job I did but what was quite clear was someone doing next to no work in the same job as me would pick up the same cheque at the end of the week which I thought was unfair.

I knew there and then that I had to find something that paid me for my value not my time, just one problem everyone I knew had a job, not one owned their own business so who do I ask? I started picking the brains of the people I worked for so I could start learning more. Which lead to me eventually opening my own Gym with two other partners and my Journey to entrepreneurship had begun or so I thought.

AS A YOUNG MAN YOU STARTED YOUR CAREER AS A BODYBUILDER, WITH GREAT SUCCESS BY THE WAY. PLEASE TELL OUR READERS ABOUT THIS PASSION OF YOURS AND YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS.

I came across bodybuilding as I needed to change my habits as they were not serving me well. I have an addictive personality I think most of us do and I must replace one thing with another, and I needed a healthy addiction to keep me on the straight and narrow. A few friends I worked with said come to the gym and when I did, I have to say fear set in as everyone looked great and here was a skinny young man who looked like a good meal would not go a miss.

They told me about a show coming up called the Mr Universe a Show Arnold Schwarzenegger had won, and as he was one of my inspirations, I thought I best go check it out. I invested in a ticket and attended. I was blown away everyone looked like they had been carved from stone and people looked on at them in a way that got my attention too.
I said to myself I am going to do this I am going to build a physique that will stop people in their tracks, and I had found my passion. I ask many of the Bodybuilders how they got started and they gave me a lot of great advice, which I was able to implement and in 1990 I Entered my first show. I got no call outs and realised I had to up my game to a whole new level which I went on to do. I competed for 15 Years 5 times a Year and Won many Titles at a top Amateur level in the UK.

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST STEPS IN BUSINESS?

Next although still no qualifications, but because of the way I looked I was able to get work as a Door Supervisor and my income started raising, I was then able to move up the ladder and become head of security which paid more again, which led me to be able to save funds and with two other friends from the gym we set about setting up our own gym. So, I could live my passion in the day at the gym and work security at nights to pay the bills. My entrepreneurial journey had started or so I thought.

Long story short I was very Naïve in business just passionate however I was soon to realise that the gym was not going to work and the people I was in business with really did not understand business at all. 2 years later I had to make the hard decision to close the gym however I had a taste for busines and had learnt a lot along the way, especially that you are not a true entrepreneur while you’re still working as you have a safety net. In 2003 I cut the net left my security job and set up a Supplement company which did very well.

OK STEVE, AND HOW DID YOU GET INTRODUCED TO NETWORK MARKETING AND, HONESTLY, WHAT WAS THAT EXPERIENCE LIKE FOR YOU?

Again an interesting story say I was on a collision course with the network marketing industry, in 2008 I looked and felt great from a fitness perspective and in the previous year had won a top bodybuilding show and plans had already been laid for the 2008 success story, however the powers that be had a different idea and I woke one morning to find I was paralysed down my right arm, after seeing experts I was told a virus had attacked my nervous system and paralysed the arm and I may get feeling back in it in a couple of years or I could be paralysed for life.  As much as I respected what the Dr’s said, I said in this day and age I cannot believe there is nothing that can be done so I set off on my mission to sort it and quite quickly it became apparent that the cutting-edge technology was in the network marketing industry. I tried several products without success and had joined a company to be able to get the product at the cheapest price.

I saw and understood the concept of network marketing, however, did not 100 percent believe in the product and in my first 2 years of Network marketing I spent $3,000 and earned $300. It was quite apparent like my bodybuilding that I needed someone who knew what they were doing to mentor or coach me. However, I am an incredibly positive person and as so look for the positives in everything and I met my now Mentor in that company and became a student of his and we went on to do great things together in 2012

AND WHAT IS THE BUSINESS FAILURE – IF YOU HAVE ONE – THAT YOU MOST CHERISH AND WHY? WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM IT?

That would be the Gym we set up, it was a baptism of fire that taught me how much I did not know about business and also taught me you can own a busines, but really it owns you. I also learnt to do your due diligence research everything even the people you are going into business with, however I also learnt connecting with people is the biggest gift you will ever have as because of the connections I made through the Gym I have lifelong friends and business associates who have taught me many things I would never have known.

PLEASE ALSO TELL US WHAT PEOPLE AND EVENTS POSITIVELY AFFECTED YOUR LIFE? BUSINESSLIKE AND OTHERWISE.

I would say the Mr Universe show as it took me on a journey to learn Self-discipline, planning, having a competitive nature and how far I could push myself which was usually a long way further than I initially thought and my coach Adam Shaw, as he taught me that knowledge and action is Power.

In business My first convention as a bit like the universe it became real, I saw the bigger picture and saw what could be achievable with Knowledge skills and action. As a person my Mentor Torsten Sedlmeier who allowed me to dive into his 30 years of skills in the network marketing profession and become a student to mirror what he had achieved.

One of the greatest moments was when I helped my leaders from Hungary earn in a week, what the average monthly wage in their country would have taken them over a year to achieve, it really is humbling when you impact lives on that scale.

KEFI, MANY PEOPLE WOULD SAY THAT THE FEATURE THAT DISTINGUISHES YOU FROM OTHER NETWORK MARKETING LEADERS IS YOUR YOUNG AGE. BUT I WOULD SAY THAT SUCH A TRAIT IS THAT YOU ARE AN EXTREMELY NICE AND LIKEABLE PERSON. WOULD YOU AGREE WITH THE THESIS THAT THIS IS A DESIRABLE TRAIT IN BUSINESS, OR SHOULD A BUSINESSMAN BE SOMEHOW AGGRESSIVE?

First of all thank you Ranking MLM Magazine for reaching out to me. It’s an honour to be here with you. Coming to your question. I think as a leader it’s important to have a pleasing personality specially in our industry because we are in contact with people day and night. You should be aggressive in your actions. The people should see you working everyday. They should trust that if they follow you they will be having results. Be nice with people and aggressive in your daily actions which bring your business forward.

KEFI, LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND. YOU HAVE AN AMAZING STORY TO SHARE WITH THE POPLE.

I was born in Afghanistan. When I was 3-4 years old we moved to Pakistan because of the war in Afghanistan. I still remember arriving at my uncles house and discovering that we have very little room. We were a 3 generations family living together in a small house. If you know Afghan people they have big families and lots of children. We started there from scratch. Soon after that my father decided to come to Europe as a refugee. We were still living in Pakistan with my mom. After few years when my father got documents here in Austria. He was able to bring us here. It was June 2008 when we arrived to Austria. Arriving at our apartment which my father rented we saw that there was no furniture. The whole apartment was empty. We had to sleep on the floor for a while before we could afford to have normal beds. We had to start from scratch again.

WAS IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO ADAPT TO THE NEW REALITY, NEW COUNTRY, LANGUAGE, ETC.? LET ME REPHRASE IT: WHAT WAS THE HARDEST THING IN THIS SITUATION?

There were many challenges. You come to a country where you don’t know anyone, don’t speak the language, different culture and a very different life. I discovered shortly after that my experience in Pakistan had helped me to become very good at adapting to new situations. The hardest challenge I would say was learning the language ASAP so that I can communicate with others.

I KNOW THAT NETWORK MARKETING WASN’T YOUR FIRST CHOICE TO MAKE BREAD AND BUTTER. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BECOME A DOCTOR. WHERE DID THIS IDEA COME FROM AND WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND?

In Afghanistan everyone aspire to become a doctor, lawyer or an engineer. These professionals are well respected. My parents always said my son will become a doctor. My uncle would come to visit us and say my nephew will be a doctor. Because of the influence I saw no other way for myself other than taking this path . When I got older I asked myself the question: what do I really want to do in my life. I could not answer this question. I was lost for a while I did not know what to do. That was the time when I started with personal development. Soon after I figured out that i wanted to be an entrepreneur.

OK KEFI, LET’S GET BACK IN TIME A LITTLE. HOW DID YOU GET INTRODUCED TO NETWORK MARKETING AND, HONESTLY, WHAT WAS THAT EXPERIENCE LIKE FOR YOU?

Me and my best friend were invited to a convention by a friend. My best friend went, I did not because I did not have the money to pay for the ticket. He met a successful leader there and got in contact with him. He would always tell me about the leader and his mentorship. I was looking for an opportunity to meet him as well. One day my best friend called and said that he was invited to his house and there would be a multi millionaire from California showing up as well and it was about business and that I could join him. It was a home event. To be honest I did not understand anything and my best friend too. He was not in the business yet. I was just excited about the environment and meeting like minded people.

TELL US ALSO PLEASE WHAT PEOPLE AND EVENTS POSITIVELY AFFECTED YOUR LIFE? BUSINESSLIKE AND OTHERWISE.

I got involved in network marketing and I did nothing and was just a customer. I could not see the big picture. My best friend invited me to a convention which was abroad. That event changed my life. It’s very true when people say Leaders are born at events. I remember having long conversations with some 7 figure earners to understand this business. At that event I made the decision to build this business and that I will never miss an event that I am qualified to attend. If it was not my best friend and the people at that event I would not be in this industry.

WHY DO YOU WHAT YOU DO? WHAT IS YOUR DRIVE IN MLM, YOUR PERSONAL „WHY”? YOU SAID ONCE THAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD BIG DREAMS, THAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO PROVIDE A GOOD LIFE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. IS THIS YOUR BIGGEST DRIVE?

I saw my family struggling financially from very young age as I mentioned before. Having misunderstandings, arguments and fights between family members because of lack of money. I decided back then when it’s my time to work I want to make lots of money. My biggest drive is to break the financial norms in my family. Our next generation should never be worrying about money. They don’t have to go through what I went through. Off course also providing the same opportunity to others and seeing them achieving their goals and dreams.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN NETWORK MARKETING AND YOUR CURRENT COMPANY? HOW IS THE GROWTH IN YOUR ORGANISATION WITH YOUR CURRENT COMPANY? 

I am in the industry a little over 3 years. I started with my current company 6 months ago. I started first as a customer and then 4 months ago decided to build the business. The last 4 months we laid down the foundation now we are in a position to make some big things happen.

HOW DO YOU RECRUIT PEOPLE THESE DAYS? TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR KNOW-HOW.

I am using social media to recruit for my business. I knew from the very beginning of my carrier that social media will be very important to build this business. We can connect with people around the world and that’s very powerful.

HOW DO YOU BUILD YOUR BUSINESS AND PERSONAL BRAND ON FACEBOOK AND SOCIAL MEDIA?

I have a simple strategy: I build a brand around myself – i give value to people through my posts – I don’t post about MLM or my company – I build real relationships with my contacts on social media – when the time is right I reach out to them about the business. That’s it.

There are many important things but if I have to choose one thing it would be: building real relationships with lots of people. We are in a people based business. People don’t follow companies or products. People follow people.

I am working with Bydzyne. Bydzyne is the very first Hybrid E-commerce company in network marketing. The vision is to become the Amazon of network marketing. BENJAMIN, I WATCHED YOUTUBE FILMS WITH YOU AND OTHER STUFF AND YOU STRUCK ME AS A VERY INSPIRING PERSON. HAVE YOU ALWAYS HAD THIS TRAIT IN YOU AND DO YOU THINK IT IS ESSENTIAL TO DO NETWORK MARKETING?

I think the seed in me started when I was 12 years old and I first time watched the movie “The Secret”. I just always knew I am meant to do more, everybody has dreams that are not giving to us by ACCIDENT. We have to have the confidence to go after our dreams, not only visiulise them but also to take action. I think network marketing is a great vehicle – one thing that people don’t talk to often about is the person you become through facing challenges and the personal development – this is worth more than money – as your income will only grow with your personality and your income stands in direct proportion of the amount of value you give to other people. And where else than in network marketing, you can duplicate yourself unlimited times and use the working time and effort of your organisation to give value to people – trough products and opportunity.

OK BENJAMIN, LET’S GET BACK IN TIME A LITTLE. HOW DID YOU GET INTRODUCED TO NETWORK MARKETING AND, HONESTLY, WHAT WAS THAT EXPERIENCE LIKE FOR YOU?

The first time I got to know network marketing from my mother when I was a child. I didn’t understand it but it fascinated me already that you can duplicate your time and effort and have unlimited people working on one vision as a team and have unlimited earning potential. My current company I was introduced when I was busy and slave of my work – as with 18 I became self-employed – but with 23 I was exhausted, had 80.000€ in debt, became father and didn’t know what to do – that was the time when I got introduced to network marketing as an adult – the first 4 times I even said no going to the first appointment, than I just bought some products that my sponsor would leave me allone and I tested the products later on. And after a few weeks as my life didn’t change I understood that for things to change I have to change. Mahatma Ghandi already said you have to be the change you wish to see in the world. As I was conviced by the products by them and by the founders I decided to start the business in October 2013.

HOW HAS BEING INVOLVED IN NETWORK MARKETING CHANGED YOUR LIFE, PROFESSIONALLY, PERSONALLY OR BOTH?

Totally. The first year I was just working hard every day like a maniac – at first many people didn’t believe in me and I got many rejections – but they didn’t know what I knew – never let the opinion of other people effect your own vision. After 1 year doing in average 10 meetings every day plus 5 presentations every week I’ve been debt free. Since than to know I became already a million dollar earner in my company. I didn’t had time for my daughter or family in that first year you have to make sacrifaces and you have to pay the price. But now I can do what I want, when I want, with whom I want and never have to worry about money again – its a feeling of total freedom.

WHY DO YOU WHAT YOU DO? WHAT IS YOUR DRIVE IN MLM, YOUR PERSONAL „WHY”?

I have more than one why. At first I just wanted to make money to pay my bills. Than I wanted to be a good example to my daughter and secure her. Than I saw how many peoples lives have been changed so I wanted to help people become their best version and believe in them. Than in around 2014/2015 one of my best business partners passed away – and I promised him to never quit – that kept me going and made me going on charity trips. I’ve built schools in Africa, Tanzania as well as in Mexico together with our team – so I got a new why – we started a project where we want to feed more than 1 million children in my organisation by 2025. We just hit the 100.000 meals mark – so in my team we donated more than 100.000 meals to children in need – isn’t hunger right now one of the solvable problems? More than 800 million people don’t have enough food – we all can make a difference.

“WORK SMART NOT HARD”. WOULD YOU AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT?

No, I would say work hard and smart. Many people are focused on shortcuts, and look for strategies and analyse to much – I just get things done. Best shortcut in this business is to have a good mentor who is where you want to be. And than you just need to go out and do massive action – you can’t get the price, if youre not willing to pay the price – anybody who tells you, you don’t need to work hard to become rich, is lying – or won the lottery and will be broke soon after. There is always a price to pay – but anyhow with the right leader who had results – you can work hard and smart with the right system.

OK, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE STATS. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN NETWORK MARKETING AND YOUR CURRENT COMPANY? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE YOU PERSONALLY ENROLLED INTO YOUR COMPANY? WHAT IS THE CURRENT SIZE OF YOUR ORGANIZATION?

I started in October 2013, in Kyäni. I have personally enrolled over 250 people, cause I like to lead by example, and my total organisation has over 25.000 people in 30+ countries.

HOW DO YOU BUILD YOUR BUSINESS AND PERSONAL BRAND ON FACEBOOK AND SOCIAL MEDIA?

Oh honestly, this is one of my weeknesses, my first year I didn’t even do one zoom/skype call – I did everything oldschool in person. Now we switched and work a lot online. I don’t do social media profesionally cause I don’t care about the amount of followers I have – I care more about the people in my team and how many I can help to unleash their potential and become successful. Most influencers are broke and it’s just a show off. I like to give people real values and to create the right culture. But of course I post some videos on Youtube, have some posts on Instagram and do stories, but I have people in my team who are far better with social media than me and recruiting only over social media.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE RECRUITMENT TECHNIQUES? PERSONALLY, ONLINE OR FROM THE SCENE?

My favoirte place to recruit is the airpline – I fly business class, so you meet good contacts – and in the plane people can’t leave, you can tell them as long as the flight goes about your business and products, right? Haha no, I do all three whatever happens – when you have a clear vision and you build the right personality life will open up opportunities and will lead the right people to you – no matter if in person, when you’re on the road, or in social media – you just have to be aware of and use every opportunity to share your product and share your business – every day consisstently.

BENJAMIN, I THINK THAT YOU WILL AGREE WITH ME IF I SAY THAT SPORT IS BASED ON ONE THING: COMPETITION. WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT NETWORK MARKETING IS BASED ON?

For me it is a relationship business. You build relationships, and you’re not only building a business – you are building other people and with those together you build the business. Also to become a leader you have to start to say no sometimes to your people and do not do everything for them – let them step up, let them develop, help them to overcome their fears and objections to grow as a personality – than they will grow their and your business.

BENJAMIN, YOU ARE IN YOUR TWENTIES IF I’M NOT MISTAKEN. SO IN YOUR OPINION, BEING SO YOUNG, IS IT AN ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE IN NETWORK MARKETING?

I was, I turned 30 this year, but I still look like 22 haha – it’s both – young people have more energy and use modern techniques or social media or so on more – but they’re facing rejection from older people who do not take them serious – and young people quit earlier and often don’t have the patience to build one vehicle and get the job done. So what I recommend is first never quit, don’t under-estimate what can happen long term. Second work on yourself – if you get the skills and personality you’ll have results and when you get results youre able to help other people get results and this way youll earn being a leader and the respect and authority that you need to build a big team. Also again work on your personal development – growing your personality will grow your income.

WHAT WOULD YOU CALL ‘MY BIGGEST SUCCESS’?

I think that I have not and will never quit. I have been to dark places in my life, I was depressed, I was broke and I have overcome that – and not only that I was able to inspire others and give them hope and confidence. I think to never quit and always keep pushing to become better is my biggest achievement, next to the 100.000 meals we donated to children in need – but that I didn’t do alone, my team did it. The biggest fight you have to face is the fight against yourself. If there is no enemy within and if you learn how to self talk and self motivate and self develope yourself, there is no limit.

DOES BENJAMIN HEYNY HAVE A LIFE MOTTO?

Outwork – outimprove – outlast – outstrategize – its not your fault when youre born poor, but its your fault when youre dying poor. Make sure that on your death bed you do not regret things you never did – live full and die empty.

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR FUTURE?

Building a legacy, no matter how long it takes, feed one million children with our charity, creating millionaires, and inspiring other people to do more, dream more, achieve more, believe more in themselves.
