It is the time to face the truth – the man is lazy from nature. Well, it is embarrassing to admit it, but these are the facts, and the only thing you can do is motivate yourself to action. Popular forms of motivation as reported are commonly known method of stick and carrot. We chase our prey – carrots, which we want to get or we are just trying to escape from the stick. Motivation in the MLM industry
How does it look in the multi-level marketing? The most common problem is the fact that people do not do any work after registration in MLM and treat the issue in a passive way. It is no wonder that MLM has still a bad reputation and people do not earn money. I went through this stage and I experienced it on my own skin, so I know how it happens. Despite all of these aspects I was aware of the fact that the fault lies on my side, especially on my motivation. Unfortunately, most people are trying to blame something else, just to justify themselves. Instead of blaming the MLM industry and the whole world, I started to get interested in a creative approach to business and motivation and this is what I found out.
Negative motivation
Negative motivation is still very popular form of motivation. Although it has been used since the beginning of world, not everyone is used to it and not everyone feels good when he is rushed to work. In the time it might be one of the factors leading to frustration and burnout. Frequently, this form includes the threat of punishment, because if you do not execute the command you will face unpleasant consequences. This is because it includes the traditional motivation for using the stick. Personally, I’m not a follower of it, so I suggest asking a question if instead of using negative form of motivation, isn’t it better to find positive elements in the environment and use them?
Positive Motivation
This second type of motivation is different from the first one in terms of stimulus. In this case, the motivation is positive, and the task is equivalent of the prize, even if it is only our satisfaction. Furthermore, it underpins our morals and fulfills us in what we do. Positive motivation is much more effective. In contrast to the negative one, sense of danger and fear disappear, instead we are full of beans and we have willingness to act again. We stimulate hormones, creativity, and we raise our self-efficacy and productivity. In the multi-level marketing industry, we can find many motivators. Among the most important aspects, number one should be the leader, and even better the whole group of co-workers interacting with each other. Do not forget about posing goals, both short- and long-term, which is an important achievement of the driving stimulus for further action.
Types of motivation
Each type of motivation can be divided into external and internal stimuli. These externalities occur when our boss comes to us, and gives us the task by the request or the command. This incentive is effective when the employee wants to get commands. A completely different kind of motivation is intrinsic motivation. You could say that it aims towards the passion and excitement, but to awake those feelings and emotions up, you first need to do something very difficult for the majority of the population, namely, to go beyond your comfort zone.
Why is this necessary? This is because the stabilization by closing yourself in your micro world never goes hand in hand with fascination, professional development and personal realization. The fact is also that when we open up to the world and we try to function in the new reality, then we also minimalize the risk of burnout. Once again, our work turns into an adventure and goes hand in hand with the internal needs and desires.
What do we achieve then? If you begin to live the life you really want to live and do what you really like to do, then you realize yourself fully, both privately and professionally. We get a positive vortex, in which our life is a strong inducement to the further development and operation. At some point, we note that the “I must” turns into “I want”.
The fact is also that by inner passion and commitment we attract the same ambitious and motivated people. That is why our attitude plays a very important role and it is reflected in all aspects of our business. Remember that just as we have an impact on the environment, as well the reality around us and people have great impact on us. That is why, it is better to buy bicycle then a bigger refrigerator. Why? Because if you buy a refrigerator, you will have to eat everything that is in it, and when you put the bike in the middle of the room, then in the end you will finally sit on it and cycle.
