In life, he has chosen the path of disocovering true potencial and turning goals into “a full life”. A life full of motivation and desire to help others in their personal quest for happiness and success.
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU STARTED YOUR MLM BUSINESS?
Before I joined the Network Marketing I was 18 years old and I had been studying architecture in high school.
HOW DID YOU START YOUR BUSINESS ADVENTURE?
I was looking for a way to generate unlimited income. I did not have much free time because I was in high school studying a career. Therefore I had two options: either to get a job or to start my own business. The first one was not an option for me It was low income. The second one required too much time, which I didn’t have. When a friend from the university showed me network marketing I saw it as the ideal business for me because I had no profit limit and I could adapt it to my time. From day one I started with a lot of speed. At my own discretion I started recruiting a lot of people in my first month to join 12 people. The next month they multiplied by 50. And so we grew. The first year we became 12,000 members! Hunger and speed were my secret.
WHAT ARE YOURS RECRUITMENT TECHNIQUES? PERSONALLY, ONLINE OR FROM THE SCENE?
My approach is always to build relationships. I seek to meet many people in different spaces such as social events, parties, hobbies such as exercising or speed races. Creating relationships is like planting trees. Each person you know is a seed and you have to water them every day to create a link with them. With some you can connect faster than others. But if you are constant you will always generate a relationship with the all of them. The online prospecting part I handle in a similar way. My biggest secret is that people see that I am a real person. I do not try to appear anything or to sell or say that what I do is easy. I show myself as I am and I seek to upload part from my daily activity on Instagram Stories. The secret is to be constant, so people will take you more seriously.
WHY SHOULD ANYONE WORK WITH YOU?
In each person that joins my team I always look for something that clearly defines what they want to achieve with this business and depending on what they tell me I will give them an exact plan and mentoring to achieve their results. On the other hand, I create a very fun and results working environment that keeps my team always striving to give their maximum potential and enjoy the process at the same time. I had no help when I started in Network Marketing, and I think that even without my support they could do it if they feel like it and are hungry enough to do it, but with a mentor they can get there faster.
WHAT COMPETENCIES DO YOU THINK ARE IMPORTANT IN THIS INDUSTRY? WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE DO YOU VALUE AND WHAT YOU DO NOT?
I believe that there are two things that will define the success of a person in this business, their technical skills and mentality. The first is a little easier, it only requires constant practice, skills such as prospecting, presenting, closing, starting a new one. But the mentality will cost them more to develop it, first they have to have a good attitude in front of all the challenges that will always come, because if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, and you also have to develop a millionaire and successful mentality. This may take years to do because you must fight emotions, feelings and beliefs that you have had all your life against money and success. I highly value people who are teachable and who are very hungry to achieve their goals, they will go far sooner or later if they are constant and have discipline.
PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT COMPANY.
It took me eight months to find a good owner to work with Network marketing company. WHAT WOULD YOU CALL ‘MY BIGGEST SUCCESS’?
I think that my greatest success has been to break records in Network Marketing in Latin America, earning my first million dollars at age 21. That inspired many young and adult people not only in my company, but throughout the industry, that you can have results only if you are hungry to achieve your dreams. A lot of people believe more in the industry because of that, and my recent achievements also, just hit the highest rank in my company in 4 months, since we start, I owe everything to my team, they are very hardworking and passionate people.
WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE PERUVIAN MARKET? (AND ANY OTHER MARKETS WHERE YOU OPERATE)
Peru is a market of 33 million people, we seek to take 1% of it in the next 3 years. We also have business in Guatemala, Colombia and Mexico.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE PERUVIAN MARKET? WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS AND THE PECULARITIES OF IT?
It is a market that comes with sustained economic development, but salaries have not increased in the last 15 years and the cost of living has risen. It is a market that has a young population, which opens up the possibilities for people to be receptive to new opportunities and within them the network marketing stands out, which is an area that has been receiving more and has been growing in the last eight years in Peru.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE PERUVIAN MARKET TO DEVELOP MORE? WHAT DON’T YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?
The minimum salary in Peru is $ 300, that makes it difficult for the monthly consumption of all marketing networks that average between 100 to 140 dollars per month, in addition to this if your product is not good or exciting, they will not buy it back. Also it is a market that has gone through many challenges during its history such as terrorism that marked society a lot, and people live in fear in every way, the positive part is that it is a market with many young people and they come with hunger for new opportunities to eat the world.
WHAT PEOPLE DO YOU THINK ARE THE MOST INSPIRING IN YOUR LIFE?
Since I joined the marketing networks, the first person I could hear in an audio was Jim Rohn, until today I always hear audios from him because I think he left a very strong legacy in personal growth.
DO YOU HAVE A LIFE MOTTO?
My life engine at the moment is my future family. Now I have 27 years old, but I always think about the stories I will tell my children about my adventures in Network Marketing and how we made many families make a difference in their lives through my message and story, and inspire them with all my achievements.
MAURICIO SOTELO, HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR FUTURE?
In the future I see myself opening more markets and traveling the world inspiring more people to go for their dreams. Achieving a team of one million people, I create something possible since in my previous company we reached 200,000 members.
