First of all, you must know that being irreplaceable at work… is some kind of burden. There are both good and bad sides to it. Remember also that there are no people completely irreplaceable. When some people decide to leave, both bosses and co-workers can feel emptiness, but there are also those whose loosing will make no difference. However, those who we may call irreplaceable at work usually like their work and don’t have to look for another. How do you find yourself in this circle?
Generate profits, not losses
It is important that you take your work seriously. Show punctuality and responsibility, and your reputation within the company will be good. To become an irreplaceable employee, you must bring benefits to the company. Win customers, be active and creative. Be effective in performing all duties. If your supervisors see that they can generate higher profits thanks to you, you will probably be pinned on the list of “highly committed employees”. However, you must remember that irreplaceable employees are often available after working hours. One phone call from your boss, and you drop everything and go to the office. Are you ready for this?
Spread a positive attitude among your colleagues. Good contact with the environment in the company will translate into the reception of your person at higher levels. If you are able to establish good relations in the office, you will certainly succeed in business contacts. Also, the partnership relationships that apply in your workplace are an important element of your wellbeing as well as your drive for self-development. Remember, however, that being irreplaceable can have a negative impact on your relationship with your colleagues. Envy, jealousy and aversion to any kind of social contact can develop. As you climb to the top, don’t forget about the people who helped you take your first step.
The statement that a man learns all his life is very much in place. No matter how good an employee you are, there is always something you can learn, a field in which you can develop. You don’t have to complete three faculties and several courses of study. Read articles on the business you work in and books that will help you develop both hard and soft skills. Always try to follow the direction in which your business is developing. Disadvantages? Remember that you need to find the so-called “distraction” in which you can rest, relax and spend time with your loved ones. There’s a lot more to life than work.
If you’re doing something, do it right!
Do your job and do your best. If you do something without conviction, without heart and commitment, it’s a sign that it’s time to change the job. For your efforts to work, you must do what you like. Working with fascination and commitment increases your chances of success. But that doesn’t mean that you have to spend all day in the office and close yourself in on your project! Be proactive, manage your private and professional time well. Don’t be categorized as an “irreplaceable workaholic”! Take on challenges, but don’t forget who you are and what is important to you.
Aim high, do more!
Try to direct your career so that you can take part in the most important projects for the company. By being responsible for them and bringing them to a profitable ending for the company, you will be noticed and appreciated. Strive for perfection in your professional career. Strengthen self-confidence and learn to cope with crisis and conflict situations. Reach for all possible means to become the best employee, but remember what price you will have to pay for it.
Analyze carefully whether being an irreplaceable at work employee is what you want in your professional life. If you love what you do, it will probably be easy for you to achieve this status. But what if not? Is it worth sacrificing all your energy just to generate profits for someone, not yourself? You must answer these questions yourself!
